Our secret recipe? We only hire the best of all the Finnish teachers with many years of experience in both teaching in fun ways and organising summer programs. We are all one big family and super-excited to get you as a new part of it!

MIKKO HÖMMÖ

Hello, world! Meet Mikko, an elementary school teacher and vice principal from Espoo. I'm specialized in music education. I’ve been organizing and directing summer camps for more than a decade in Finland, Europe, USA and India. I once counted that I’ve spent well over a year of my life on summer camps so you can guess that i really really like summer camps! Also, I’m so into music that it’s almost ridiculous. I’ll be bringing some pretty cool music projects with me! Besides that I love golfing, snowboarding and all things with a twist of action!

My favorite summer camp activities are the things that all of us do together. Nothing beats a really funny evening activity where 80 people are all laughing in tears! The best thing about summer in Finland is the sun that just won’t go down. You have to see it for yourself! A finnish word I would like to teach you is “miksei” that stands for “Why not?” As a teacher, my #1 goal is to enable possibilities and let creativity bloom as long as it’s done safely!

My favorite summer camp activities happen outside. I love to feel the summer breeze on my face so a day at the beach, a good game of capture the flag or summer camp olympics really get me going. Learning and having fun are possible only when all the participants feel comfortable on the camp, so a nice cozy atmosphere is always worth working for.
